Sarah Parsons – CRU Blackwatch ‘86
2006 Olympic Bronze Medalist USA Women’s Ice Hockey

Sarah played for CRU Blackwatch ’86 from U10’s to U17’s and then had to forego the U18 season to focus on making the US Women’s National Ice Hockey team.

Sarah won the gold medal at the women’s national tournament in 2005 and just recently returned home with an Olympic bronze medal from Turin, Italy.  Ron Weeden, her CRU soccer coach, was lucky enough to stay with her family and enjoy all three round robin games during the Olympics.  Sarah scored her first Olympic goal in the second game against Germany and then put in her second later that game which was no less than unbelievable.  She then sparked a comeback against Finland to score the first two goals to bring the score back to 2-3 and helped in charging on to a 7-3 victory.

Sarah is first class all the way around.  Completely humble, never looking for attention.  Just willing to do whatever is necessary to help the team on to victory.  No matter if it’s defending, assisting, playing goal, whatever.  She wants to win and she wants her team to win.  Never a question asked, just doing she’s told and doing it to the best of her ability.

Congratulations to her and congratulations to her wonderful family.  Thank you for being a part of the CRU family and thank you for representing the United States in such a remarkable fashion.

The best quote of all during the Olympics over in Turin, Italy was when Sarah was sitting at the table having lunch and asked Ron “if he still had a spot for her for state cups this year”.  He thought for all of one second and replied, “Let’s see, mmmmm….., yeah, I think so”.
